Africa at PDAC 2023 Report

You typically start by thanking your sponsors and we will get to that.

But first we have to thank Blake Chorley for his great photography that so aptly captured, not only the activity over 4 days but more importantly, the vibe - the networking, the interaction, the energy, and the enthusiasm so clearly evident on people’s faces.

This vibe has become a central theme and a highlight of our African programming during PDAC - which is exactly what you can expect when you put Africa, Canada and mining together on the agenda for the biggest African mining event in North America.

All of this was possible because of the support of our partners and sponsors. Thank you all, and not just for your financial support but for your participation and input into developing the program.

We had 50 speakers and 500 attendees throughout the morning at The Canada-Africa Chamber of Business 24th Annual African Mining Breakfast & MineAfrica’s 21st Annual Investing in African Mining seminar on March 7.

Marna Cloete, CEO, Ivanhoe Mines Ltd. was our keynote speaker and she presented a compelling story of how Ivanhoe “mines” in Africa. Clearly Ivanhoe does it right!

We had seven breakout rooms with country, regional and topical spotlights featuring country overviews by African Mining Ministers, project updates by mining CEO’s and presentations on current trends in African mining by expert advisers. Download the program and presentations.

We were delighted that The Fraser Institute chose our event to release the results of its 2022 Annual Survey of Mining Companies.

Download our Program and African Directory which details our partner and speaker profiles – a who’s who of African and Canadian mining leaders and a great resource for doing business in Africa’s mining industry.

Our expanded MineAfrica pavillion at the PDAC Trade Show from March 5-8 had a record 21 exhibitors in two locations. And we were busy!

We have three photo galleries for you. Check them all out. You may be in there! And feel free to download them.

  • PDAC 2023 – Trade Show – March 5-8 – this gallery has all of the photos from the PDAC Trade Show

  • PDAC 2023 – Mining Breakfast & Seminar – March 7 – this gallery has all of the photos from the Breakfast and Seminar

  • PDAC 203 Summary – this gallery is a smaller sample of photos from both of the above galleries

We were also pleased to play a small part in promoting Francomine organized by Chamber board members Pierre Boivin and Paula Caldwell St-Onge, and hosted by the Toronto Stock Exchange. See some photos here.
