The Fairmont Hotel was the setting for MineAfrica's initial venture into Vancouver with its Investing in African Mining seminar on June 17. The keynote address by the Fraser Institute provided an insightful ranking of African countries as mining investment destinations based on 13 policy factors including taxation, regulation and land claims. Presenting companies covered the diverse geographic scope of Africa (including Burkina Faso, the DRC, Mali, Republic of Congo, South Africa and Sudan) with equally diverse and exciting projects in copper, nickel, energy, gold, potash, uranium. About MineAfrica in London with Premier Sponsor Standard Bank - November 19, 2007MineAfrica launched its inaugural Investing in African Mining Seminar in London, UK on Monday Nov. 19, 2007, prior to the start of Mines and Money. The program featured expert presentations on doing business in Africa's mining industry followed by company updates on their African projects, and government presentations on specific investment opportunities. The seminar drew 135 participants from the international mining and financial communities. The seminar took place at the 5-star Andaz Hotel (formerly the Great Eastern Hotel) in Central London.
Standard Bank, the African bank with the largest footprint on the continent, and a pre-eminent provider of financial services to the global mining and metals industries was the Premier Sponsor for MineAfrica in London.
